By definition, a product can legally claim to be “Made in” France only if the last substantial transformation, or a significant portion of the added value (minimum 45%), is completed in the country.
For example, a bike that is built from raw materials produced and made in Asia, yet is assembled in France, can be labeled “Made in France”. In our eyes, this claim only makes sense if it is integrated throughout as many production phases as possible. In view of the evolution of the market over the last years, it has however become extremely complicated to manufacture genuine “Made in France” products.
